Hand crafted necklace made of Czech glass bead, Fancy Jasper and Bronze clasp.

Materials:

• Czech glass beads
  
• Fancy Jasper focal gem stone
  
• Bronze toggle clasp
  

 

Necklace:

This necklace is designed to focus on the Fancy Jasper. The focal bead is 1 ¼ inch tall and the shape of a tear drop. The color blend of Czech beads match colors in the Jasper stone. I used blue fused 3-ply nylon beading cord which is soft, pliable and yet is strong. The clasp is a Bronze toggle style. The red color variations remind me of the dust in Hanapepe, Kauai. The Jasper reminds me of the harbor near Eleele.

 

Care and cleaning:

Hand wash necklace and earrings using household dish soap and water. Lay flat to dry overnight. You can use standard jeweler’s polishing cloth on the earring posts. I do not recommend chemical cleaning because it may discolor the glass beads.

About Bead Crochet:

Seed bead crochet is labor intensive, dating back to the early 1820’s. Each tiny bead is touched 3 times to build the spiral rope.

First touch: All beads are strung onto the cord in a predetermined pattern.

Second touch: Crochet the first row of beads, adding one bead with each stitch and determines the diameter of the rope.

Third touch: The subsequent rows are crocheted into each stitch of the previous row adding one new bead while flipping the previous bead to the side.
